PORSCHE 917 K chassis

Post by micro1955 » Sun Dec 31, 2006 12:51 pm

Hello boys, after several months on behalf pass you to the construction of a model thirds party, finally are successful to begin a plan that I had in mind from much: the autocostruzione of the chassis knot of PORSCHE 917 K in 1:24 scale. Thanks to much found documentation online and especially to a walkaround of a restoration of the real machine, I have begun this enterprise with the technique of the welding that, until yesterday, for me was several taboo but thanks to councils of wizards of this technique (laws Mazzoleni and Berri) has become more and more easy. For this chassis I have used of the tondini of brass from 1 and 1,5 milimeter and of the brass tube always from 2 milimeter We leave with the base.

It is really good looking!!! :)

Are you going to build the whole car from scratch ?

Welding rookie's question: why welding instead of gluing?

cheers

Excellent job "micro", great skills with metal.
I'll keep my eye on this thread for sure. ;)

I believe that when working with brass and some other metal alloys, the final result is much sturdier and safe to handle then ciano glue (which doesn't sustain impact very well).

(PRT: Em latão e algumas outras ligas metálicas a soldadura permite ligações mais resistentes e seguras que a cola de cianoacrilato (que resiste mal aos impactos)).

Um abraço,
Luís

And finally the chassis ended (as far as the tubes), and now under with all reinforces, the attacks of the suspensions, the suspensione brakets, the steering shaft and the all the several stirrups. I hold to specify that some weldings are still from cleaning up.
