Fulvia HF

The Lancia Fulvia HF was a true all-forward performer, with the twin-carburettor V-4 engine and gearbox mounted forward before the cabin. Despite being a front-wheel drive car, the Group 4 Lancia Fulvia HF 1600, homologated on October 1st 1969, came to dominate the World Rally Championship, winning several events with drivers including Sandro Munari.

With the Fulvia, Lancia created its iconic racing team, the HF (High Fidelity) Squadra Corsa. With legendary chief mechanic Cesare Fiorio, they used the 1600 HF consistently between 1969 and 1974, taking seven European Championship victories in 1970, another six in 1971 and seven more in 1972, winning the manufacturers' World Rally Championship in 1972. Nothing less!!

It has taken more than 50 years for us to be able to enjoy a plastic model of this glorious machine, by Italeri and in 1/24 scale, featuring decals printed by Cartograf, a sheet of photo-etched parts, chrome-plated parts... It looks really interesting!

Goldvarg

Is there a Guinness World Record for scale model cars? We're all convinced it isn't... Well yes, there is one, and Sergio Goldvarg has achieved it several times, since thanks to his passion he has built a collection of no less than 20,000 model cars, some of them unique pieces, as the result of his love for the world of miniature motors since he was just a child.

All of them, along with some 1:1 scale cars, are on display at the Goldvarg Museum located in Florida (USA). We recommend you take a few minutes to enjoy his story on his website and social media (facebook and instagram); it's well worth it.

Last week we talked about the Guinness World Record for collecting scale model cars, and today we're going to talk about another collector, although with a small but interesting twist: he collects 1:1 scale racing vehicles...

The collection he has gathered over the years is truly spectacular and completely unique in the world, although a few months ago it was announced that he was starting to get rid of it. We all know the reason, or we can guess, right?

Anyway, today we want to congratulate this collector of automotive treasures, not only for his incredible collection and all he has contributed to Formula 1, but also because he has just celebrated his birthday!

In March 1984, Peugeot presented at the Geneva Motor Show the model that, a few months later, would become the king of popular sports cars internationally: we are talking about the Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6.

For all of us who love the iconic vehicles in motoring history, Heller has created a complete scale model kit from scratch, which not only allows you to assemble the phase 1 version of the 205 GTI 1.9, but also allows you to recreate its engine and interior, which will be on full display because, unlike what is usual at 1/24 scale, the doors come prepared to be opened, as does the front hood.

The first supply of the scale model kit has just arrived, and we immediately opened one of the boxes to check the contents. It looks really good: a wide range of parts, excellent detail, a comprehensive color manual, and all at a very reasonable price. Which means the boss has already run out with three boxes under his arm...

GT-Four ST165

Pay attention because Toyota won no less than 13 World Rally Championship events with its Group A Celica ST165, with drivers like Kankkunen, Waldegard, Schwarz or Jonsson, but above all with Sainz at the wheel.

Everyone will remember that not too many years ago we had the first version of the Toyota Celica ST165 scale model by Nunu in our warehouse, but the good news is that this same model is going to be reissued by Beemax, with the livery and number of Carlos Sainz and Luis Moya in the 1991 Monte Carlo Rally where they were winners.

As far as we can tell, the model kit retains the same features and parts, including elements like the front grille with headlights, slick tires and lower suspension, but there will be one important change: the decals will be made in Italy, which is much appreciated, isn't it?

Gentlemen, you can now panic, because Nunu's scale model of the DTM 2022 BMW M4 GT3 has finally arrived to Europe. Why has it taken months to get here? Well, because it's designed and manufactured on the other side of the world, and maritime transit, customs, authorizations, and the management of all of that takes time.

Maybe it took a bit too long, but scale modelers are known for their infinite patience, for knowing how to wait, and for having a cupboard full of material to work with in the meantime... XD

We have a handful of good news. A few weeks ago, we told you about the Lancia Fulvia HF that Italeri has released in 1/24 scale. The first piece of good news is that, since a few days ago, we have a whole bunch of these available for you at SpotModel. The second piece of good news is that some manufacturers, such as Reji, have announced different liveries that will be available very soon. For example, Kallstrom's car from the RAC Rally and 1969 San Remo, or Munari's car from the 1973 Vltava Rally.

What's the third piece of good news? Well, several manufacturers are planning to release new designs and have asked us which ones we think are interesting. Our response spans several pages... but, in addition to our suggestions, we want the manufacturers to know which ones YOU want.

Christmas patience

We have often appealed to your patience as scale modelers, since it is well known that we modelers have been blessed with great patience, among many other wonderful virtues.

And once again, in the middle of December, known internationally as the month of "everything is late", we have to remember that blessed patience. A few days ago, one of our logistics operators notified us that this month they're raising prices while simultaneously extending delivery times... Excuse me? In other words: "Since we're very busy, we're going to be late, but we're going to charge you more." And the best part is that they said it with pride, convinced that they were providing us with a better service.

So from SpotModel we ask for a little Christmas patience, and above all, if you want a shipment for a specific date, don't be complacent, order it as soon as possible so that it arrives on time.

Merry Christmas

Every year we rack our brains to come up with a token of greeting that you will like, to try to be present in your homes and thus feel that we share with you the excitement of these dates.

This year we thought our greeting card could be a miniature replica of our shipping boxes. But it had to arrive unassembled, not only so you could put your undeniable modeling skills to the test, but also so you could experience that moment that is so important to us: the moment we prepare your shipments. Happy new kits

Taking a moment before the end of the year to reflect on what's happened and look towards the coming year with renewed energy is all well and good... But let's get down to specifics XD

Model-wise, how has your year been? Have you been able to build as many models as you wanted, or only as much as work, family, friends, etc., allowed? Have you managed to improve your skills as a scale modeler? And most importantly, have you enjoyed building models?

We are happy to see the SpotModel family grow every year, with new modelers joining us and to whom we hope to transmit the enthusiasm we feel through our shipments and services. And we're also happy to know that many of you are there, accompanying us, for a veeery long time. THANK YOU

Among them all, we want to highlight one: the reedition of Tamiya's veteran molds of the Zakspeed Group 5 Ford Capri Turbo, this time with the Mampe livery that we love so much, which you can now pre-order at SpotModel.

Komakai has already confirmed that there will be a Fast Guide about the car, and almost certainly a new volume of the Original Race Pictures series as well. Winter

It's cold outside, the rain is falling on the windows, and the sky is gray, giving the "outside world" an absolutely wintry feel. With this scene, we can only wish for one thing: to be warm and cozy at home building models!!!

The boss, a lover of cold winter days when parts invade the assembly table, has surprised us enormously because, in just over 10 days, he has assembled two impressive models that are now on their way to Germany, as they will be exhibited at the Nuremberg Toy Fair which will take place in a few days.

More Beta Montecarlo Turbo

Shortly before Christmas, we told you that Heller was releasing the reedition of Esci's veteran Lancia Beta Montecarlo model kit, and we are already receiving the first super products to further improve the scale model: the BBS and Ronal rims by Reji, the first of the Decalcas decorations with Martini advertising, or the imminent arrival of the Komakai volume loaded with photographs from all angles and corners of the car.

Speaking of Komakai, they've given us a sneak peek at a new volume in their Original Race Pictures series, covering the most important Lancia Beta Montecarlo chassis from track testing. Not only that, but they're also collaborating with Decalcas, providing never-before-published pictures that reveal previously unknown details on the liveries. Decalcas has confirmed that they're adding details and logos that weren't documented. It's going to be amazing!!!
